Loan Calculator with Extra Payments, Lump Sums etc. (Microsoft Excel)
- In FAQ Article 111 (Tracking a loan or mortgage
in Excel), I mention that I customized a Microsoft Office Template for loan payment
tracking. This excel spreadsheet is below. The idea was that I could put in/take
out various lump sums into a spreadsheet to track the effect of them on my loan
account, and see when I was likely to pay off the loan.
- I was lucky - using this and a combination of smart investment decisions and a bit
of luck, I paid off the loan very quickly. It might not do that for you, but could
help you try scenarios out.
- The spreadsheet is not simple enough to be used by someone who doesn't know any
Excel, but hopefully can be used if you have some basic skill in the tool. I can't
provide any support for this spreadsheet, as I barely understand the stuff I added.
- To use it, you should import your Money account list using MoneyLink into a separate
sheet, and change the various parameters as mentioned on the Notes page.
