Associating QFX statements with Money

Some financial institutions provide downloads in the form of QFX, which seems to be a slightly modified OFX statement.

If you wish to download these automatically into Money, then you should create a file association for QFX, and link that to Money.

To do this, create a registry .REG file, and put the following content into it. Then double click the file to import it. If you're using Quicken, this may cause problems though.

REGEDIT4

[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\.qfx]
"Content Type"="text/qfx"
@="ofx.Document"

[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\.qfx\ofx.Document]

[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\.qfx\ofx.Document\ShellNew]

[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\MIME\Database\Content Type\application/x-qfx]
"Extension"=".qfx"

[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\MIME\Database\Content Type\text/qfx]
"Extension"=".qfx"

You might need to add following line directly before the DATA:OFXSGML line:
OFXHEADER:100

Apart from the above, if you want to convert QFX to OFX, there are no other steps that need to be taken.

If you subsequently wish to remove the QFX association, then you can do this by deleting the keys referenced above. However, don't do this if you are using another product that uses QFX (some Intuit ones will), as that could cause issues. If you accidentally have, then reinstallation of the product using this extension should reset them for you.
