Importing into Microsoft Money from Microsoft Excel

If you have all of your data in Microsoft Excel and want to export it into Microsoft Money, then you will need to convert the data to a format that Microsoft Money can use to import. The final format would be QIF or OFX (see FAQ Article 235 for an article about Microsoft Money import formats), but you might need to go through an intemediate step of converting to a CSV file. Doing this can be quite time-consuming, and there are some things to watch out for. Fortunately, in some of the programs below, things are made easier.

A number of tools have been developed to help you perform an import from Microsoft Excel (and other programs). Some of these tools may require your Excel data to be formatted in a particular way, and if you're using the first tool (which is an old Microsoft tool), be careful of the date format if you're not using a US version of Money.

When importing the data into MS Money, look at article FAQ Article 28, as this gives some help on the best way to ensure transfer transactions are imported properly.
