Microsoft Money for the Mac or Linux
Microsoft have never released a version of Microsoft Money for any platform other than the Window platforms. Microsoft has no plans to do so and given that they have discontinued the Windows version, it is unlikely that they ever will.
However, there are some workarounds
Mac Systems
If you have an older, PowerPC-based Mac, then you can use Virtual PC.
If you want to use Microsoft Money on a Mac, then you have a couple of options.
For more modern Intel-based Mac machines, then
Parallels Desktop for Mac
or
VMware Fusion
enable you to run Windows on it. In these, you can run Microsoft Money whilst retaining the use of the Mac operating system. More information on this Parallels can be
found here.
If you wish to dual boot both OS X and Windows, then a solution would be to use Apple Boot Camp, and boot into Windows when wanting to use Money.
I do not have a Mac machine, so both are untested by myself (although I have used Money under a Virtual PC on a PC based system). However, I've had many reports that these both work.
You may obtain this software directly from Parallels (
Parallels Desktop for Mac
) or from Amazon (
US
,
UK
,
Canada
)
Linux
There are two options here:
WINE which provides emulation of Windows, and thus allow Money to be run.
Secondly,
Parallels have launched a version of their Mac software for Linux:
Parallels Desktop 4 for Linux!
Thanks to 'AA' for providing information about Parallels, Apple Boot Camp and compatibility of Intel-based Macs and also thank you to Phil Stockton for alerting me to VMWare Fusion
